SONOGRAPHY AND ULTRASOUND IN VASCO GOA
Sonography is also known as Ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body structures. Ultrasound projects the size, shape, and density of the internal body which helps doctors diagnose many medical conditions.
Sonography uses a device called a transducer that emits ultrasound waves. If the tissue is denser and harder, then the sound waves bounce at a higher frequency back to the transducer thereby creating a brighter image in the ultrasound. Abdominal sonography allows the doctors to examine without skin incision. Ailments such as kidney and gall stones, liver diseases, aortic aneurysms, and enlargements of organs can be easily detected through ultrasounds. However, the most common purpose is the examination and development of the fetus. This helps determine the location, age, the number of the fetus’ and potential birth defects.

In a Transesophageal Echocardiogram, the transducer is inserted into your esophagus which helps obtains images of the heart. This procedure is usually under sedation.
The Transrectal Ultrasound test creates images of the prostate by placing a special transducer into the rectum. While in a Transvaginal Ultrasound a special type of transducer is gently inserted into the vagina to get a quick look at the uterus and ovaries.
