Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual medicine with a whole body approach to pain. Osteopathy aims to restore optimal posture and increase mobility of joints and efficiency movement for good overall health. Osteopathy uses a wide range of techniques from gentle articulations to manipulations preformed to muscles, joints and nerves to bring about therapeutic benefit. Osteopathy can be used as a reactive solution to help recover from pain and injury. However, osteopathy can also be a preventive measure to rebalance, strengthen and rehabilitate muscular weakness and postural imbalances.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The initial consultation lasts 15 minutes. In this time period a patient history will be conducted with the aim of gathering information about the patients overall health plus past and presenting complaints. Following this, a physical examination will be conducted to discover biomechanical restriction and/or weaknesses. Next, a functional assessment of sporting or activities of daily living which are cause pain. The consultation will end with the practitioner explaining your diagnosis along with any questions you have.
The treatment phase if you chose to be treated will last 30 minutes and will consist of a range of manual therapy techniques:
* Gentle mobilisation of joints
* Stretching muscles
* Joint manipulation
* Myofascial release
* Balancing ligamentous tissues
The treatment will conclude with a re-assessment of specific functional or biomechanical restriction to outline improvements. Followed by some potential rehabilitation exercises to be performed between treatments. Finishing with a treatment plan for the future.
